Physical protection is provided in the shape of a slot for a Kensington cable lock. Unauthorised access to the system itself is prevented through different levels of passwords or through an optional fingerprint PC Card. Only a registered user can then access the system. On request, Toshiba also provides a hard disk password, which is stored partially on the system and partially on the hard disk controller. This means it is not possible to access data even if the hard disk is used with another system. This is a highly secure utility, which is provided on request only. |

There is a new Advanced Port Replicator for the Portégé 4000, which is also compatible with other Toshiba professional notebooks such as the Tecra 9000. This new docking solution will be forwards compatible at least with the next Portégé series and also with other future Toshiba business notebooks. All standard ports are replicated on this cable management device. |
