Toshiba UK today
announces a new range of Smart TV services and features with the introduction
of the new TL968 and RL958 TV series. Both new series have
been enhanced to make it easier to access a world of online content and connect
with multiple multimedia devices around the home. New built in Wi-Fi®
provides instant access to Toshiba Places, an Open Browser
lets viewers surf the web, while USB Video Recording, Intel®
Wireless Display, Skype™ compatibility and additional tablet and smartphone
integration combine to offer greater functionality than ever before.
Building on the success
of their predecessors, both new TV ranges feature Full HD (1920 x 1080p
resolution) and 16:9 LCD panels with Edge LED backlighting which delivers
vibrant colours and deep blacks, while Active Motion & Resolution
technology ensures smooth and crisp images. Viewers can recreate the 3D
experience at home with the TL968 series, which utilises impressive active
shutter 3D functionality, using Toshiba’s 3D glasses,
and even watch their favourite 2D content in a new dimension using 2D to 3D
conversion technology.
Available in a silver
brushed-metal design, the TL968 series comes in 117cm (46”) and 102cm (40”)
screen sizes, while the glossy black RL958 series is available in a choice of
102cm (40”) and 80cm (32”) screens sizes.
Smarter
inside
In addition to built-in Wi-Fi®,
both new TV series include Wi-Fi® Protected Setup (WPS) which
provides quick and easy connection to home networks so viewers can enjoy online
content straight out of the box. With Intel® Wireless Display, users
can wirelessly stream, or mirror content from any Intel® Wireless
Display compatible laptop enabling any internet entertainment, and PC stored
content to be enjoyed on the big screen. The new Open Browser also lets users
surf the web using the TV remote control or the Toshiba remote application for
smartphones and tablets.
USB Video Recording turns
an external hard drive into an HDD TV recorder, allowing users to record and
watch programmes to their own schedule. Users
can easily stay connected to friends and family near and far by using the new
integrated Skype™ functionality and adding an optional webcam.

Toshiba’s online
entertainment portal provides easy access to the latest online content through
a range of popular applications. Users can enjoy the latest TV programmes and
blockbuster movies on demand with BBC iPlayer and Viewster movies
while integrated YouTube™ and Dailymotion apps provide access to the latest
videos. With iConcerts®, 7Digital and Aupeo! users can enjoy music
and concerts on the big screen, stay up to date with the latest headlines using
Euronews and LiveSport and connect with friends using Facebook™ and Twitter™
applications.
Toshiba’s updated MediaGuide
provides detailed programme listings, as well as offering engaging background
information on actors, shows and movies. A new application for Android™ powered
tablets and smartphones lets users conveniently browse and control the EPG,
categorise TV channels, programme recordings, as well as search and access a
greater level of information and content from broadcast programmes.
Cleverly
connected for entertainment
The TL and RL series
feature a wide number of connectivity options including HDMI® and
USB ports so users can easily connect to peripheral devices including HD media
players and games consoles. Both models offer two USB connections, while the RL958
series has three HDMI® ports and theTL968 series features four HDMI®
ports.

new TL968 and RL958 will be available from Q4 2012.
