Powerful Productivity Outside.
The way we work today is vastly different from just a few years ago. With remote and flexible working on the rise, an average 3 out of 4 employees in Europe have some work-schedule flexibility and most think flexible working improves their work-life balance. Moreover, almost half (47%) of respondents to a UK employee benefits survey cite flexible working as the most desirable workplace benefit, and a further eight out of ten employers and employees believe that flexible working improves productivity.
New technologies, expectations, policies and even physical work spaces all play into a new way of doing business. The digital transformation of the workplace has seen huge investment and focus in recent years. However, flexible working may result in teams increasingly being fragmented across multiple locations, and device usage that may sit outside the corporate secure IT environment. Three-quarters (74%) of firms across Europe for example permit home working, while in the UK one in 16 people worked from home in 2016.
Outside of the company’s security parameter, corporate data is often exposed to unsecure devices. The key is to ensure the security and transportability of applications, data sets and services across locations and devices. Many businesses already employ software such as anti-virus protection as well as hardware features such as biometrics and smart data encryption on mobile devices. Effective office security requires robust policies and the implementation of multi-layered and integrated security solutions. Cloud computing is critical, and it comes as no surprise that the demand for cloud will grow 18% in 2017 to $246.8 billion in total worldwide revenue, up from $209.2 billion in 2016.
With a future workforce that will be increasingly mobile, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) presents opportunities not to be ignored. Mobile Zero Clients supports all major Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solutions, including Citrix and VMware, which means there is no need to alter infrastructure. Mobile Zero Clients empowers employees to work on the move whilst following security regulations. It enables workers to access important data held under central storage and management rather than at device level. By removing data from the device, the business achieves comprehensive protection without compromising on mobility or productivity. Mobile Zero Clients can also unlock extensive savings. For example, as updates are made via the server, the need to regularly replace PCs when they become outdated is eliminated. Moreover, Mobile Zero Clients protects against data theft. Without local storage or USB drive support, hackers can’t store or inject malware, while additional boot control authentication allows employees to shutdown lost or stolen units.
Technologies such as personal smartphones and tablets can be encouraged, but to safeguard data and other intellectual properly, the usage should fall within guidelines that promote effective yet secure collaboration in the cloud. Delivering flexible access to applications and content on the corporate network while at the same time meeting the business imperative of ensuring the highest possible levels of security, control and compliance, is a huge task, but one that will result in rewards of greater mobility, flexibility and happier employees.
