Park yourself infront of the gogglebox, and you’ll want to watch programmes, not fiddle with settings. That’s why Toshiba invented AutoView, a clever piece of technology to make sure your Regza TV always shows pictures with the best possible settings. Read on, and we’ll explain how AutoView works.
Intelligent backlighting
AutoView takes the guesswork out of adjusting your TV. Whether you’re suffering from summer sunshine streaming in through a window, or compensating for switching the lights off every time you want to enjoy a late-night movie, AutoView monitors the light in your living room, and adjusts its picture to make the most of it.
Each Toshiba TV with AutoView packs in a light sensor, letting it measure the brightness of the room it’s in. Once the REGZA TV knows this, it can adjust the backlighting behind its LCD screen.
In brightly lit rooms, AutoView will increase the backlight’s power, fighting against the lighting around the screen to keep images bright and clear.
In dark rooms, AutoView will dim the screen to avoid straining your eyes, and to keep dark colours from being washed out unnecessarily.
Content-sensitive processing
Automatically cranking up brightness or dimming backlights isn’t all AutoView is good for. Its smart processing technology also takes into account the pictures on-screen, making sure any adjustments it makes are in keeping with the programmes you’re watching.
For example, settle down for a bit of film noir, and AutoView will take into account its dark colours and murky scenes. It’ll avoid any adjustments that leave them washed out, instead adjusting the picture to bring out clarity and make watching a pleasure.
Similarly, AutoView can adjust your REGZA TV settings to take advantage of bright colours and light scenes. It intelligently analyses each pixel in a scene. If you’re watching in Full HD, that’s over two million pixels, each being analysed at least 24 times every second, all to bring you the best quality image possible.
Energy conscious processing
Use a Toshiba TV with AutoView and you can be confident it’s running at full efficiency. By dimming the screen’s backlight whenever it can, AutoView means less electricity is used by the typical viewer. Not only will it reduce your electricity bills, and cut your carbon footprint without any intervention on your part, but it could also lead to a longer life to your TV.
